A vital perspective on implementation – from Steve Jobs

People think focus means saying yes to the things you need to focus on. But that's not a success formula at all. It means saying no to the hundreds of good ideas there are, the hundreds of things 'everybody' wants you to do. You have to pick carefully. I'm actually as proud of the things we haven't done as the things I've done. Innovation requires saying not to a thousand things."

-Steve Jobs

Think about this very simple statement often.

Think about how hard it is to say no to a really good idea when it's right in front of you and you're all excited about it.

Think about how challenging this really is.

Be smart. Be vigilent. Be focused, and be informed so that you can make as many of the right decisions as possible at the right times.

No. you won't be right all the time, but when you adopt this kind of mindset, you will be so much less likely to waste time on things that are not deserving of your focus - no matter how juicy these ideas might seem in the moment 🙂
