No. I'm not an anarchist. I'm NOT suggesting that EVERYONE abandon the order we have established. I'm talking about YOU and ME. Just you and me, and maybe Thomas Edison who once said, "Hell, there are no rules here - we're trying to accomplish something."
Let's take Donald Trump, for example. Why not? On the day before the election, why not place him and his persona at the center of this discussion about your own personal decision to decide what you do and how you do it. Never feeling even remotely willing to surrender those decisions. Might this make you an outcast? Shouldn't you just go with the crowd? Not burn bridges? Conform to mediocrity? Well, you could...and you may hate the idea of Donald Trump, but there he is on stage, making a mockery of many things, including our established social norms. Our comfort food.
I make a different choice in spite of knowing what I am up against in this fight to remain autonomous, productive, strategic, and passionate. It's difficult when you know your beliefs and their inspired actions will likely be met with resistance. Difficult, that is, until you accept the idea and the story, that it is only this kind of inspired in-congruent thinking that makes life better. Because it is not until you and I are determined enough to speak out, and rejoice in our decision NEVER to surrender our ideas and autonomy that we may begin to silence the mediocre majority.
