The confusing irony of life…

written by john c ashworth

It seems a ridiculous irony that I should be wiped off the face of the earth at a moment's notice. But that's a reality we all face every moment of our lives. Mostly, we ignore it.

As I write this, there are words that come to mind...

Unfair?

Scary?

Ridiculous?

Cathartic?

Heart-stopping?

Cold?

Hot?

Anxiety laden?

Confusing?

Meaningful?

Meaningless?

Totally overwhelming?

Completely incomprehensible?

Which is it?

Today it feels like that last one - completely incomprehensible. But on any given day, it could be any of those things. Or all of them.

On any given day, it could be my time. I might depart. Leaving behind a legacy of love, understanding, laughter, work, expertise, inspiration, sadness, years of grief and mourning, and countless other things that will mean nothing to me and everything to those that love me. At times, that burden is heavy and hard to carry.

Staying fully present with that idea, however, can enrich your life right now in this moment in a profound way. It is an idea that forces you into the present like nothing else can. Once you're here, almost anything is possible.

Imagine for a moment...

Right now, you're hear reading my blog.

The next…

Poof!

You're gone.

What will you do next?
