I love the things you say…

"You have it too." He said.

And, of course, I know this very well but it was nice to hear from someone I respect. Someone who has done things. Accomplished things. Been where I have been and had more success. Someone with a lot of heart and a lot of passion and a lot of ideas. Someone just like me.

"It's a curse." He said.

"I know." I replied. Because when you're full of this much passion and this many ideas you're never content with just sitting still and letting the world and your life dictate to you. Nothing happens fast enough. No idea or project or result comes with the kind of expediency you demand. Especially when you're in the position of waiting for others to catch-up.

"He agreed."

In that moment, it was divine to be standing and interacting with someone who gets it. Who gets YOU.

In that one fleeting moment, it was enough. A quiet and humble reverance hung in the air for the rest of the evening. It was truly divine. And when combined with other unexpected compliments I received that night, and many interactions over the course of days with colleagues with whom I spend very little time in person, it was incredibly inspiring to discover that I am having much more impact on them, and them on me, than I had expected.

"I love the things you say, Ashworth." Said another. "Everything you say, I just love it. You inspire me, man."

"It was so great to meet you in-person." Said another.

"John, I loved what you wrote on slack today. You're my favorite guy!" Said one more...

"You were so good to me when I first started my sales position here. It made a true and lasting difference for me, John." Said one more of my younger and passionate and full-of-heart fellow salespeople. One of many I've discovered, who really get me. It means a lot to me.

They are listening.

Are you?

-John
