The problem with your goals in 2018

written by john c ashworth

The problem with your goals in the new year.

Is that they quickly fade into the fog of your day to day responsibilities.

The end of the year is a great opportunity to reflect.

We have the time and space.

Off for the holidays.

The end of the year a natural point of reflection.

Especially when you've had a year like mine.

The image I've shared a metaphor.

Time to leave 2017 on the curb and move on.

What happens, though, when you are immediately busy in January.

Taking care of important to dos.

Running your life.

Your business.

Your Career.

Being a good Dad.

A loyal husband.

Trying to avoid distractions.

Created by you and others.

Busy and not productive.

Suddenly, your goals are distant with ease.

Without notice they fade from your conscience.

You run toward your next meeting.

Race across town to your next appointment.

Make unplanned and unproductive stops.

Get distracted.

Forget to breathe.

Forget to plan.

Forget.

Forget your goals as they fade into that distant fog.

You must revive yourself constantly.

The key is in creating and cultivating momentum.

Once created...harnessed. Captured.

Mixed with positive emotions.

Held tightly.

Honored.

Momentum comes from sticking to the plan.

Being patient with yourself and the process and others.

Keeping yourself in line. Being disciplined.

No one can stop you but yourself.

A cliche, I know. But true.

True for me for sure.

I feel the momentum, and I can feel it building.

At the same time, the gravity of old habits is there.

The lure of the shiny object distracting me.

Constantly shining in my eyes.

Constantly challenging me to grow or die.

Time to harness the momentum as it arises.

Focus on the power and strength it provides.

Focus on the clarity that it brings.

The mojo it manifests.

The truth it reveals.

Good luck!
