Flashback Sunday – Old School soccer-style place-kicker, John Ashworth, shoots for the San Diego County record for most field goals in a season in 1987.

OK, consider this 'flash-back Sunday."

Yep, that's me. All those years ago in 1987 as a senior in high-school.

John Ashworth on his mission to break the county record for field goals in a season in 1987.

This video is from my senior year in high-school back in Poway, CA where I ended up as the Times Advocate Athlete of the year. I was the place-kicker for the football team, captain of the soccer team, and ran four events in track.

We broke the school record in the 4x100, though my brother Jerry was faster and him and his relay team crushed our record the next year. I broke the school record in both the long jump and triple-jump and also ran the 100 m dash. We won the county championship that year with 5 guys scoring in the event.

We were also co-champions for soccer in Sand Diego County that year. Though it should be noted that if referees called offsides the way they do today, that shot Dustin put in the back of the net probably would have made us solo champs. Otherwise, no one could find a way to score the rest of the way and through over-time.

...Ahhh, alright...flashback over. Time to get back to work.

Hope you enjoy the video.
